SGI's three goals are accomplished by encouraging people to overcome inadequacy, insecurity and feelings of being unlovable, so they can become more firmly established in their identities in Christ as unique children of God. One of Satan's biggest lies is that we are the only ones suffering from these agonizing feelings, keeping us isolated and stopping us from fully expressing ourselves and our faith. This lie hinders us from honestly reaching out to others in relationship, for on some level we are too afraid of rejection -- of not being loved. Jesus mandated that we love our neighbors as ourselves. If we cannot internally accept ourselves as Jesus does, then we are unable to fully love our brothers and sisters in Christ and love others into His kingdom. Losing one's fear of man, one another, is critical to carrying out the Great Commission. In John 17:23 Jesus prayed that those who believed in him would be brought to complete unity to let the world know that God sent him and that God loves them as He loves Jesus.
God is the author and finisher of healing, and He uses many avenues. We are responsible for honestly confronting ourselves and allowing Him to bring His healing to our lives and then to others'. Addressing these issues opens the door to the unhindered use of our gifts for the furtherance of God's kingdom.
